I think it’s safe to say that we all have a love/hate relationship with change. If things stay too stagnant for too long, we get terribly bored and start to feel monotonous. When too many things change all at once, we find ourselves desperately seeking comfort in what we are familiar with.
Whether we like it or not, change is a part of life. More specifically change is something that we all need to learn to embrace in order to grow – whether we’re referring to our personal lives or our professional lives.
As a yoga instructor, change is a subject that I talk about frequently with my students. In fact, a lot of my students come to my class with the sole purpose of learning how to embrace change. As I mentioned earlier, change can be downright scary because it forces us out of our comfort zone and often leads us to worry about the “unknown.” When my students need a little boost of courage when facing change in their lives, I often refer to this quote from Rumi:
"Try not to resist changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?" -Rumi
Recently, our company has seen a lot of change, and we are confident that this transition into GLOWBIOTICS MD is a positive one. If all else fails, remember that change is often associated with good things to come in the near future. Here are some pointers to refer back to if you feel yourself struggling with the idea of change:
1) Change makes your life more flexible. Going with the flow is without a doubt a less stressful route to take when facing new challenges in life. Having an open mind will always make the process easier. Think about it – when was the last time being stubborn made you feel fulfilled or good? I’m pretty confident the answer is “never.”
2) Change makes you smarter and sets you apart from the rest. I know I’m not the first person to say this, but sometimes it helps to be reminded of this: If things never changed, you’d never learn anything new. And every time you learn a new skill — even if it’s just how to adapt — you are that much smarter than you were yesterday.
3) Change reminds us that anything is possible. It’s easy to think that anything that’s stuck will always be that way. But when you see things change, whether it’s in your personal life or professional life, it’s encouraging (and comforting) to know that nothing stays the same forever.
